Hydraulic Design

Pressurised pipe systems

Welcome to our core engineering competence. It doesn't matter whether the pipe is only the diameter of your thumb, or big enough to walk through - we love working out how to push fluid through them under pressure.

All fluid flows have to start and stop at some time.  Pumps lose power occasionally and control valves sometimes get closed rapidly.  They are the scenarios we cover in transient analysis of systems, to make sure safe working heads are not exceeded.

jClem Consulting typically delivers hydraulic and transient design for the following types of systems:

  • town and city storage tanks, booster pumping and reticulation pipe networks;
  • groundwater borefields and collector mains;
  • water treatment plant piping loops;
  • mine pit dewatering;
  • power station cooling water;
  • power station site fire water systems;
  • large diameter, cross-country pipelines; and
  • sewer pressure mains.

 We are skilled at selecting and sizing a diverse range of surge protection assets:

  • air valves, anti-vacuum valves, pressure relief valves;
  • pressurised surge vessels;
  • one-way or two-way surge tanks; or
  • appropriate control of the pump and valve assets.
